Sikkim is a beautiful scenic location which proves to be a fantasy destination of many a tourist. The original inhabitants of Sikkim, the Lepchas called it Nye-mae-el or `paradise'. Sikkim is the second smallest state in India and is nestled in the Himalayas. Its natural features are dictated by the most magnificent mountain range in the world which includes the Khangchendzonga, the third highest mountain in the world.

Sikkim has four districts, the west district, south district, north district and east district. These districts are further divided into sub districts. There are eight towns and nine subdivisions in Sikkim.
West district
Pelling, Pemayangtse Monastery, Khecheopalri Lake, Yuksam Tashiding, Reshi Hot Springs, Sanga Choeling Monastery and Rinchenpong.
East district
East district is the most inhabited district of Sikkim with
Namchi,
Ravangla, Temi Tea Garden, Sikip and Jorethang. Ravangla is where the annual Pang Lhabsol festival is held. Samdruptse Hill is near Namchi, which is where the statue of Guru Padmasambhava stands.
North District
The northern district of Sikkim could be called the most beautiful and scenic area. It provides an unforgettable experience to people who love nature. The scenery here can be described as truly exquisite. During spring, valleys filled with delicate flowers and lush meadows are a common sight. Here one can come into contact with the Sikkimese culture and heritage. The hot springs are a famous attraction here. The main destinations in this part of Sikkim include
Yumthang Valley, Kabi Longtsok and the Phodong Monastery.
